Granite Countertops in Altus, OK

Granite Countertops in Altus, OK

If you’re shopping for granite countertops in Altus, you’ve probably already figured out that your options locally are pretty limited. Most folks end up driving somewhere — and we’d argue Clinton is the right somewhere. Classic Marble Design is the in-house granite fabricator for Western Oklahoma, and we’ve been serving Altus and Jackson County homeowners for years from our shop just up the road.

Here’s what makes us different: we don’t broker stone. We cut it, polish it, and install it ourselves, in our own facility. When you buy from us, you’re buying straight from the people doing the work — no dealer in the middle adding their margin on top of ours.

Whether you’re updating a kitchen out near the base, building new off North Main, or fixing up an older place downtown, we can help. Grab a free estimate when you’re ready.

Why It Pays to Buy Direct

Most granite in Western Oklahoma changes hands two or three times before it lands in your kitchen. A big-box store sells you the job. They sub it out to a kitchen-and-bath dealer. The dealer subs the fabrication to a shop. By the time the stone hits your cabinets, everyone in that chain has taken a cut — and you’ve paid for all of it.

We are the shop at the end of that chain. So when Altus customers skip the middle two steps and come straight to us, the math works out in their favor. No dealer markup. No broker fee. No game of telephone between four different companies about whether your sink cutout is centered.

You talk to the people doing the templating. You talk to the people doing the cutting. You talk to the people installing it in your house. And if something needs to be tweaked along the way, there’s one phone number to call.

That’s the real reason the drive to Clinton is worth it. You’re not going farther for the sake of it — you’re going past the markup.

What’s in the Slab Yard

Granite has been the go-to natural stone in American kitchens for a long time, and there’s a reason it’s stuck around. It’s formed under heat and pressure miles underground, which makes it hard as nails, heat-resistant, and basically impossible to wear out. And because it’s natural, every slab is its own piece of art. The veining you get is the veining you get — nobody else has the same one.

We stock a pretty wide range, from quiet neutrals like Alaskan White and New Caledonia to bolder picks like Black Pearl, Volga Blue, and Uba Tuba. Some folks come in knowing exactly what they want; most come in with a Pinterest board and a rough idea. Either way, we’ll walk you through what we have and help you figure out what’ll actually look right in your space — and what won’t.

Browse the full color story on our granite countertops page, but honestly, photos don’t do granite justice. Worth seeing in person.

Where Granite Earns Its Keep

Granite is a workhorse. It holds up in places that chew through softer materials:

Kitchen counters. Set a hot pan down without panicking. Cut on it (although we’d still rather you used a board — your knives will thank you). Granite shrugs all of it off.

Islands. Big slabs really shine on islands, where the whole pattern of the stone gets to breathe. We can do overhangs, waterfall edges, integrated supports — whatever the design calls for.

Bathroom vanities. Water, toothpaste, makeup, hair products, kids leaving the tap running for ten minutes. Granite handles it. Seal it once in a while and it’ll look new in twenty years.

Outdoor kitchens. Oklahoma weather is no joke — blazing summers, freeze-thaw winters, humidity, wind. Granite is one of the only natural stones that holds up to it year-round.

Bar tops. Dark granite under cabinet lighting looks fantastic. If you’ve got a home bar or entertainment area, this is a place to splurge a little.

How the Process Actually Works

From the first phone call to the last seam, here’s what to expect:

Pick your slab. Come to the Clinton showroom if you can — granite varies piece to piece and you really want to lay eyes on the one going into your kitchen. If you can’t make the trip right away, we’ll send detailed photos of specific slabs from inventory.

Template. Once you’ve picked the stone and signed off on the project, we come out and template your cabinets. It’s a precise digital measurement of every angle, cutout, and edge — way more accurate than the old hand-drawn templates you might remember from years back.

Fabrication. Your slab gets cut in our Clinton shop. Edges, sink cutouts, cooktop, faucet holes, seam prep — all of it happens under our roof. Nothing gets shipped off or handed to a third party.

Install. The crew loads up and heads to Altus. Most kitchens are installed and sealed in a single day. We clean up after ourselves.

Aftercare. Granite doesn’t ask much of you, but we’ll show you what to use, what to skip, and when to think about re-sealing. More on our care and maintenance page when you want to read up.

We Cover Altus and All of Jackson County

We’ve worked with homeowners and contractors all over the area, including:

  • Downtown Altus and the older neighborhoods around the courthouse
  • Out by the base — Falcon and the surrounding communities
  • North Altus developments along Main Street and Falcon Road
  • The Veterans Park and North Park areas
  • Surrounding towns — Olustee, Blair, Eldorado, Friendship, Headrick, Martha, and beyond

The drive from Altus to our Clinton showroom is about 65 miles, mostly up US-283 to I-40. It’s a straight shot, and well worth it if you’re serious about picking the right stone.

Contractors, Builders, Remodelers — Let’s Talk

If you’re a tradesperson working the Altus market, we’d love to be your countertop shop. We work with contractors, builders, and remodelers across Western Oklahoma on everything from single kitchen remodels to commercial builds and new-construction subdivisions. Direct fabricator pricing means your bids are cleaner. Consistent quality means callbacks aren’t a thing. And having a single point of contact means you’re not chasing four different people when a question comes up.

Granite or Quartz? Honest Answer

This is probably the single most common question we get. Here’s the short version:

Go granite if you like the idea of a one-of-a-kind natural stone, you cook a lot and want something that laughs at hot pans, and you don’t mind sealing it once a year.

Go quartz if you want every counter in the house to match exactly, you’d rather not deal with any sealing, and you’re okay with being a touch more careful around hot cookware.

Neither is wrong. We fabricate both in-house. Take a look at our quartz countertops page for the full breakdown, or just come by the showroom and put samples next to each other.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do granite countertops cost in Altus?

Depends on a few things: the color and rarity of the slab you pick, the square footage of the job, what edge profile you want, and how many cutouts are involved. That said, because we fabricate in-house and sell direct, our pricing tends to come in lower than what you’d see through a retail dealer. The only way to get a real number is to put in a free estimate request — we’ll work from your layout and the stone you’ve got your eye on.

Do you actually install in Altus?

Yes — Altus and the rest of Jackson County are regular stops for us. Templating, fabrication, and install are all our crew. Nothing gets subcontracted.

Can I see the slab before you cut it?

Please do. Granite varies piece to piece, and it’s worth seeing yours before we put a saw to it. Come by the Clinton showroom whenever it works for you.

Does granite need to be sealed?

Yes, but it’s not a chore. Most granite needs sealing about once a year, give or take. Lighter colors a little more often, darker stones a little less. We’ll show you the product to use and the five-minute process.

How long does granite last?

Realistically? Longer than your cabinets. Granite installed correctly and sealed now and then will easily outlast the rest of the kitchen. We’ve got customers with countertops we put in twenty-plus years ago that still look great.

Is granite really heat-resistant?

Yes. It handles heat better than just about any countertop material out there. You can set a hot pan on it briefly without doing damage — although for extended contact, a trivet is still smart, mostly to protect the sealer.

What’s the actual difference between granite and quartz?

Granite is 100% natural stone, cut from the earth in solid slabs. Quartz is engineered — crushed natural quartz mixed with resin and formed into slabs with consistent color and pattern. Granite gives you uniqueness and heat tolerance. Quartz gives you consistency and zero sealing. Both are great. We do both in our shop.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes, and there’s no obligation attached. Send us the project details and we’ll come back with pricing options.

Do you work with contractors in Altus?

We do. We’ve got an active trade program for builders and remodelers across Western Oklahoma, Altus very much included. Head to our contractors page to see how the trade pricing works.
