Shopping for a shower remodel in Altus is a frustrating experience for most people. Walk through the local options and what you’ll find is the same depressing white fiberglass surround you’ve seen in every rental property since 1995, or full natural-stone tile work that’s expensive going in and a maintenance nightmare for the next twenty years. There’s a third option that most folks have never even heard of, and it’s the one we build.
We’re Classic Marble Design, based up in Clinton. We fabricate custom solid-panel showers — the modern, no-grout, no-leak alternative to natural stone and the much nicer cousin of fiberglass. Three product lines, dozens of finishes, every panel cut to fit your exact shower in our own shop. You end up with the look of marble, onyx, or natural stone without any of the stuff that makes those materials a headache to actually live with. We get asked about marble showers in Altus constantly — it’s one of the most-searched bathroom terms in the country right now — so let’s just get this out of the way up front: we don’t build them, and we don’t recommend them.
Natural marble photographs beautifully. We won’t pretend otherwise. But it’s a porous, soft stone that wasn’t designed for a daily-use wet environment, and it shows. It stains. It etches when it touches anything acidic, which includes about half the shampoo aisle and most “natural” cleaning products. It needs sealing every six to twelve months for the rest of its life. Add kids to the picture and you’re signing up for stains, dull spots, and a slow-motion remodel-regret in about three years.
The full breakdown is in our blog post, The Problem with a Marble Shower (and What to Use Instead). Worth reading if marble is what you came here for.
The good news, and the reason this page exists: you don’t actually have to give up the look. Modern solid-panel showers can do marble, onyx, granite, travertine, whatever stone you’ve got pinned on a moodboard — and they do it without any of the porosity, sealing, or staining problems. That’s what we actually build.
A solid-panel shower goes in as large, seamless wall panels — not tile, not grout, not a hundred little pieces stitched together with caulk. Each panel gets cut to the exact dimensions of your shower, the seams between panels get sealed with marine-grade silicone, and that’s the whole construction. No grout lines for mildew to live in. No tile to crack. No annual sealing routine. Nothing to leak.
It’s the biggest change in shower design in the last twenty years, and it’s quietly become the standard in real custom remodels. The reason is simple: it solves every problem natural stone and tile have, and most people genuinely can’t tell the difference from across the room.
We carry three product lines, all fabricated in our Clinton shop. Here they are, starting with our flagship:
Onyx is our most-requested product and the one we’re best known for — we rank #1 in Google for “clean onyx shower,” which probably tells you something about how much of this we’ve installed over the years. The product is made in Kansas, built around a dense acrylic-based panel system with a natural-stone feel. More matte, more tactile than the high-gloss gel-coat finishes you’ll see on cheaper materials.
A few reasons Onyx is the workhorse of our shower lineup:
It looks like real stone. Stand next to a finished Onyx shower and natural marble side by side and most people can’t tell which is which until they get within arm’s reach. The surface has a softness to it that’s genuinely hard to fake.
The accessory catalog is enormous. Built-in benches, niches, shelves, corner caddies, soap dishes — all in matching material. The whole shower reads as one continuous surface instead of a wall with a bunch of stuff bolted onto it.
The warranty is serious. Onyx backs the product with a long manufacturer warranty, which tells you what you need to know about how long it’s expected to last in the real world.
Mid-range pricing. Not the cheapest option in our lineup, not the most expensive. Onyx hits the sweet spot most Altus homeowners are aiming for when they’re doing a real quality remodel.
If you’re not sure where to start, this is usually where we point people first.
Tyvarian is the one that catches people off guard in the showroom. Here’s the trick: high-definition photographs of real natural stone slabs get printed onto a cultured marble base, then sealed under a thick, durable clear gel-coat. What you end up with is a panel that looks like a specific piece of natural stone — Carrara marble, dramatic onyx veining, polished granite, travertine, whatever you want — but is fully non-porous, completely sealed, and never needs a thing.
The visual range on Tyvarian is the widest of anything we carry. If you came to this page specifically because you wanted a “marble shower,” Tyvarian is your answer. It’s the closest thing on the market to actually putting marble on your walls, without any of the things that make actual marble such a bad idea in a shower.
It’s also the thickest, heaviest, most premium of the three lines we work with. Pricing is at the top end of our shower offerings, but you’re getting a product nobody else in Western Oklahoma is doing at this level.
Sentrel is our value-tier option, and it punches way above its weight. The product is a PVC sheet panel with a high-definition photo image bonded onto the surface — same general concept as Tyvarian’s printed-image approach, but on a different (and a lot more affordable) substrate.
What makes Sentrel work:
High-end look at a lower price. If your budget doesn’t stretch to Onyx or Tyvarian but you absolutely refuse to live with a sad white fiberglass surround for the next decade, Sentrel is the answer. The image quality is genuinely good — guests aren’t going to be able to tell it’s not stone.
Same no-grout, no-leak construction. No tile, no grout lines, no mildew anywhere. The maintenance story is identical to the premium options.
Wide color and pattern selection. Smaller range than Tyvarian but still plenty to choose from — marble looks, stone looks, modern solid colors.
Quick installs. The lighter panels go up fast, which helps on jobs where the bathroom needs to be back in service yesterday.
Sentrel is what we typically recommend for rental properties, secondary bathrooms, and budget-conscious primary remodels where you want the modern look without paying for the premium tier.
The thing that kills fiberglass surrounds and tile showers — and the reason most old showers eventually need to be ripped out — is water sneaking behind the walls. Tile leaks through grout. Fiberglass leaks through seams that have shifted or aged out. Once water gets behind the surface, you’re looking at mold, rot, and a wall demo to fix it. We’ve seen plenty of those jobs come through.
Solid-panel showers don’t have that failure mode. Large panels cover entire walls in one piece, the seams between panels get sealed with marine-grade silicone that bonds chemically to the panel surface, and there are no grout joints for water to find its way into. The waterproof barrier is the wall itself, not some hidden layer behind it.
This is the simple reason we don’t get callbacks about leaks on these systems. The construction doesn’t allow for it.
Here’s what working with us looks like, start to finish:
First conversation. Tell us what you’re working with — an old shower you’re replacing, a new build, a full bathroom remodel — and what kind of look you’re going for. We’ll talk through which of the three product lines actually makes sense for your situation and budget instead of trying to sell you the most expensive option.
See samples in person. Come to the Clinton showroom and look at Onyx, Tyvarian, and Sentrel samples side by side. Photos online don’t capture how these materials read under real bathroom lighting, and the differences between the three really matter when you see them in person. Worth the drive.
Design the shower. Walk-in or tub-shower combo, bench or no bench, single or double niche, glass door or curtain, fixture layout — we work through all of it with you. Onyx in particular has a deep accessory catalog that lets you build the shower exactly the way you want it.
Measure and template. Once the design is locked, we measure your space precisely so the panels can be fabricated to fit. No on-site cutting and fitting, no trim pieces to hide gaps.
Fabrication and installation. Panels get cut and prepped in our Clinton shop. The install crew brings everything to Altus and handles the full job — old shower demo if needed, new panel install, seam sealing, glass door, fixture work. Most installs wrap up in two to three days.
Aftercare. Wipe it down with normal household cleaner. That’s the entire maintenance routine. No sealing, no special products, no schedule to keep.
We also fabricate custom shower doors — frameless glass, semi-frameless, traditional framed — to finish off the build. Standard play on most of our projects is to spec the panels and the door together so everything matches and the install crew handles it all on one visit. Cleaner timeline, one accountable team, one phone number.
We’ve worked with homeowners and contractors all over the Altus area, including:
It’s about 65 miles from Altus to our Clinton showroom, mostly up US-283 to I-40. Easy drive, straight shot, and well worth it if you want to lay eyes on the panels in person before committing. There’s a real difference between a photo on a website and looking at the actual material under bathroom lights.
If you’re a remodeler, builder, or GC working in Altus, we’d love to be your shower shop. We work with trade pros across Western Oklahoma on shower jobs, kitchen remodels, and full new-construction packages. Direct fabricator pricing keeps your bids clean, consistent product means no install-day surprises, and one shop running templating through finish means one phone number instead of four. Hit our contractors page or drop us a line to set up a trade account.
If your shower project is part of a bigger remodel — and most of them are — we can handle the rest of the stone work in the same job. Take a look at our quartz countertops and granite countertops pages for Altus, or just talk to us about the whole package when we discuss the shower. One vendor, one timeline, one install crew — a lot less moving parts.
We don’t, and we don’t recommend them either. Natural marble is porous, stains easily, etches when it contacts common bathroom products, and needs to be re-sealed every six to twelve months. For a primary bathroom that sees daily use, it’s the wrong material. We build solid-panel showers (Onyx, Tyvarian, Sentrel) that give you the marble look without any of the problems.
Tyvarian, in most cases. It uses high-definition imaging to replicate the exact look of marble — Carrara, Calacatta, dramatic dark veining, whatever you’re after — on a non-porous solid-surface panel. Onyx is also a strong choice if you want a more matte, natural-stone feel rather than the polished marble look.
Depends on the product line you pick, the size of your shower, what kind of door and accessories you want, and whether there’s demo or new construction involved. Sentrel is our most affordable option, Onyx sits in the middle, and Tyvarian is the premium tier. The best way to get a real number is to request a free estimate.
Yes — and this is what surprises most people in the showroom. Tyvarian uses high-definition scans of actual stone slabs, so the patterns read as natural stone even up close. Onyx has a depth and matte tactile feel that mimics real onyx convincingly. Sentrel uses printed imaging that holds up well at normal viewing distance. None of them look “fake” the way fiberglass surrounds do.
No. The construction doesn’t allow it. Large seamless panels cover the walls entirely, the seams between panels are sealed with marine-grade silicone, and there are no grout lines for water to creep through. We don’t get callbacks on these systems for leaks.
Decades. The premium lines (Onyx and Tyvarian) come with substantial manufacturer warranties, and in practical use the panels will outlast the bathroom around them. We have customers with installs from twenty-plus years ago that still look new.
Please do. Come to the Clinton showroom and see Onyx, Tyvarian, and Sentrel samples side by side. The visual and tactile differences between the three are significant and worth experiencing in person before you decide.
The shower is our specialty, but we can absolutely handle countertops and vanity tops for the rest of the bathroom in the same project. For full demo-to-finish bathroom remodels involving plumbing rough-in, flooring, drywall, and so on, we’ll often coordinate with a contractor on the larger scope while we handle the surfaces. Talk to us about what you’re planning.
Yes — Altus and Jackson County are regular install routes for our crew. Templating, fabrication, and install are all handled by our team in-house. Nothing subcontracted.
Yes, and there’s no obligation. Send us the project details and we’ll come back with pricing options.
If you’re getting close on a shower remodel or a new bathroom build in Altus, we’d love to be the shop you work with. Three premium solid-panel product lines, fabrication done in-house in our Clinton shop, and an install team that runs the whole job from demo through final seam — that’s the experience.
Send in your free estimate request whenever you’re ready, or give us a ring at (580) 323-4917. The showroom is at 3800 W Commerce Rd in Clinton — straight shot from Altus, and honestly the only way to really see Onyx, Tyvarian, and Sentrel before you commit to one of them.
